Interview with Elstabo
1. Please tell us something about your background and your art journey so far.
My art journey started over twenty years ago, which includes illustrations, fashion design, photography, painting, and digital design.
2. Describe what a normal day looks like as an artist.
A normal day starts with coffee and a bagel, once that is taken care of, I can mentally put myself into the vortex of the creative.
3. Can you tell us more about the theme in your art and your inspiration?
The theme of my art is focused mostly on the women I collaborate with in my personal life.
The women chosen tend not to have any experience with any art, it makes the whole thing uniquely fun and original. For them, it's an experience where they are doing something out of their comfort level and trusting me to lead them safely down a creative process.
4. How does your art life impact other parts of your life?
My art has not only had a major impact on my social life and money, but it has opened doors to traveling adventures, in the way of exhibitions and research.
5. Could you share any difficulties and hardships you had to face in life and how or if you managed/overcame them?
Because of the nature of my art, I am pigeon-hold into a corner. As a straight man who loves women and showcases that in his art, it puts me at odds with many of today's art communities.
6. Tell us about your best experience in the art world so far.
I found my niche within the erotic art world, my work is always accepted and celebrated there. So if you find yourself being an outsider, remember there will always be an audience for your artwork, you have to seek them out.
My favorite personal art experience was a weekend in Miami, I was partying with two college girls who spoiled me all night, and then finishing the weekend with a commission sale for over 10 thousand dollars.
7. Share your worst experience in the art world.
My worst art experience to date was dealing with an egotistical gallery owner, who wanted to police every move. He cared more about his numbers than having a positive working relationship with the artist.
8. What practical advice can you give to fellow artists?
Practical advice for other artists is to experiment, and never give up on your pursuit. The journey may be long, but it will filled with many wonderful experiences that will shape your art.
9. Is the artist life lonely? Please share your thoughts and experiences.
I can only speak about my art life, I spend a lot of time isolated when I am creating, the other times anyone is involved is when I collaborating with a muse or another creative person.
10. What are you working on at the moment and are there any upcoming events you would like to talk about?
As of today, I have been working on a project called The Deadly Playmates, which began at the beginning of the pandemic of 2020. It will be an erotic-based project with a fashion and illustration patina. The final version of the project will be in the form of a coffee art book.
