Interview with CesarOne.SNC
1. Please tell us something about your background and your art journey so far.
I am not coming from HipHop music as almost every Graffiti writer but from electronic music (Techno, House, Drum n Bass). But in my younger teenage years, I have seen the Frankfurt (Germany) train line full with Graffitis. I was very impressed and always enjoyed travelling with the train. But these Graffitis made me not start my art journey, I only started Graffiti in 1999, due to a friend who was studying with me. But since then, I did not stop. I did some exhibitions and have painted in a lot of European countries.

2. Describe what a normal day looks like as an artist.
As I did Graffiti only as a part time job, I will try to tell a normal weekend day or the start of a project. Graffiti is an art form which is taking place outdoors but Graffiti writers also do canvases etc. A project is starting with cold calling mostly, that means, as I am traveling a lot with my car, I see a wall which could look nicer with my art on it because it is scattered with a lot of tags etc. or with beginners Graffiti stuff, which I can paint over. If the owner of the wall is okay with it and gives me the permission, I discuss with him about the upcoming project. Then, I start with looking for motives where the owner is okay with. Then, I am checking which colours I need and if I got the colours in my stock. If no, I order and buy the colours online or in a shop. I print the motives and do sketches for every motive. Then, the practical part is starting: I mostly take some paint from the painter and paint the wall with a roller. After that, the work with the spraypaint is starting. Mostly, the Police is coming and controls the graffiti artists, so that I need a written document, signed by the wall owner.
3. Can you tell us more about the theme in your art and your inspiration?
My focus is since 2012 on Comic Art, combined with Graffiti letters. I did almost every Comic figures, like The Simpsons, Janosch, Looney Tunes, Lucky Luke, Garfield, Pinky & Brain, Disney/Mickey Mouse, Nintendo/Super Mario Bros., Jungle book, Spy vs. Spy, Pink Panther etc.
4. How does your art life impact other parts of your life?
I try to avoid to communicate to people what I am doing. My wife says, I am a very private person. Because a lot of people are conservative and have a lot of prejudices, I am hiding my art hobby/job from other people, especially in my work places. Even when I have stopped painting commissions since this year, I will perhaps continue to paint a free project from time to time…

5. Could you share any difficulties and hardships you had to face in life and how or if you managed/overcame them?
Because I started a website in 2001 with my beginner stuff, I always got a lot of hate from other people. Throughout the years, I got used to it and became a tough guy.
6. Tell us about your best experience in the art world so far.
I really appreciated and loved my 2 journeys in Albania in September 2018 and in January 2019. In this European country at this time, the people did not really know Streetart and Graffiti, so there were a lot of people passing by and watching me. It was a big difference to the bored people in Western Europe, who are passing by and are not interested in Graffiti and Streetart.
7. Share your worst experience in the art world.
I did not have any bad experience so far.
8. What practical advice can you give to fellow artists?
Stay humble, stay true, respect is everything. Respect other writers. Do not cross or go over better Graffitis. Be open for new things.

9. Is the artist life lonely? Please share your thoughts and experiences.
No, I do not think so. As long as you are an open person and you like painting with other artists, you always will have new friends to paint and to have fun with. With social media, you can find a lot of friends all over the world and you can travel and meet them.
10. What are you working on at the moment and are there any upcoming events you would like to talk about?
At the moment, I am taking a break from art. I hope that I can get back to business in the new year, with a free project.
